    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has awarded $540,200 in grants and distributions for the second half of 2016. The funds include $84,500 in grants to 17 nonprofit organizations in Mahoning and Trumbull counties that made requests to the philanthropic funds the foundation manages.     Metcalf Selected to Lead California’s HCD Ben Metcalf, deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), has been appointed director of the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Prior to joining HUD in 2010, Metcalf was a project manager at BRIDGE Housing in San Francisco. The appointment, which was announced by Gov.     NORWALK — The Norwalk Housing Authority (NHA) has purchased Cedar Court with help from a Weatogue-based affordable housing management company. NHA Deputy Director Candace E. Mayer said the authority partnered with Vesta Corp. to purchase the 92-unit, largely senior-housing complex at 92 Cedar St. Vesta Corp. was founded in 1998 by Steve Erie and Arthur Greenblatt, who earlier pioneered the use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.READ MORE
